For a few months, I’ve been driving around with a can of change. lol I took it to the bank one day to have it counted in their machine and the tellers were busy doing some kind of work to the machine, so I couldn’t use it. Since I had direct deposit, I didn’t make it to the bank for a few months.
Finally, a few weeks ago I stopped by the bank and took the can inside. I figured I had $25-30. I was so surprised when the ticket printed out. I had $71!!!! Yeehaw! That was good news to me!
Do you save your spare change or spend it? Lately, I’ve been finding dimes and nickels in parking lots. That’s more for me!

I have a jar, but since we almost always use of debit card, it takes years (like 5) to get $20 or so.
Sharon: I understand what you’re saying. We use the debit card for most of our purchases too. So I’m really confused about where all of our change came from.
I’m happy about it though!
Whenever I pay cash for something, I make sure to never give the exact amount. Every week I empty my wallet into our change stash. It makes for a nice little surprise after a few months!
I always give any spare change to my kids to put in their piggy banks. My son is 4 years old and has been collecting change in his since he was 6 months old. The piggy bank is almost full, I think we need to take a trip to the bank soon.
I save mine in a big jar and take into the grocery to be totaled at the CoinStar. Then, I use the receipt to pay for my groceries. I have a little one who has a knack for finding change on the ground, so it really adds up!
We just recently counted our cookie jar and there was around $120. It was wonderful and jsut in time for Christmas
