Saving Money on Holiday Cards

My first advice is always going to be send e-cards. Less paper waste, many are free, and they don’t lead to clutter. However, I know not everyone is on board with e-cards, so here’s how to save money on holiday cards this year without the e-card option.

- Buy a stack of nice stationary (on sale I’m assuming) and create a custom holiday letter vs. sending cards. Paper costs less in most cases, and you can print out letter fast which saves time.
- Grab some construction paper and the decorated half of old holiday cards people sent you. Glue the cards to construction paper (to create a new back) and send those. Be careful not to send the card to the same person who sent it to you.
- Buy cards after the holidays – not useful this upcoming season, but makes for dirt cheap card sending next year.
- If you want to print fancy cards skip the family minded photo card shops and go directly to a company who specializes in greeting cards for businesses. There are still lots of options, but usually at a less expensive price.
- Instead of paying for photo cards, just include an updated family photo in your envelope. Family and pals will like that just as much.
- Get a pack of card stock and envelopes at a crafts store and let the kids go to town. These will be much more fun anyhow.
