Start a Sewing Basket

Needle and thread

Do you have a mending basket? I do! When you consider a thread and needle will run you a couple of dollars as opposed to the cost of replacing a torn garment, it’s definitely something to look into. Sewing is also a relaxing way to spend an evening and can be done when you’re watching the television or chatting with family members.

The initial investment isn’t much, just the aforementioned thread and needle, a pair of scissors, a thimble if you tend to prick, and a basket or bin to hold clothes. Sewing is easy too, and is something anyone can do. To make sure no one can see your stitches be sure to sew small even stitches, turn the garment inside out, and always sew on the seams. Clothes that are too far gone can be tossed into the rag bin or cut up and used for other projects.
