Stay At Home Moms Contribute Too

woman saving moneyStay at home moms (and dads) contribute financially to their family too.  Today I came across a great blog that is written by SAHM Sarah Forhan.  In her posts, she writes about being frugal, which saves your family money and makes you thrifty mommies contributors of your home.

In her recent post, More Important to Save or Earn?, Sarah realizes that sometimes the best ways for moms to contribute is by saving money, rather than earning money.

We contribute to our family by saving money at the grocery store, clothing stores, toys stores, by taking advantage of store sales and promotions.  It all takes a little time to get the most for our money but when we are able to save $20.00 on food using coupons that is additional money that can go towards the running of the home.

To see how much she was truly saving, Sarah decided to keep a journal.  The journal shows what she would have spent at the store without coupons and store promotions, then the actual amount spent, and total savings.

The savings part is going to be her main focus.  It is helping her to see that her efforts are truly valuable to her family.

Are you questioning your value to your family? Or perhaps you just want to know what your efforts are doing.  You may want to try Sarah’s journal idea for a while.
