Stock Up on Loss Leaders

Loss leaders are grocery items sold at a loss in order to lead people into a store. They’re the items you find in your supermarket flyer each week. Many frugal shoppers save money by creating their shopping lists around their supermarket flyers and only buying loss leaders each week. When shopping for loss leaders, keep the following in mind:
- Loss leaders are displayed in a manner which forces shoppers to walk past expensive impulse items first. Avoid impulse buying by sticking to your list.
- Not all sales items are loss leaders. Always pay attention to prices so you’re able to spot a bargain.
- Many supermarkets place a limit on the amount of loss leaders one can purchase to discourage stockpiling.
Always check the supermarket flyer when making your shopping list. You’re sure to find some true bargains.

It helps to be aware of prices. I just heard that milk is going up. Around here, Target (of all places) has the cheapest milk. I guess that is their ‘loss leader.’
