Stocking Up on the Christmas Clearance

January 6, 2009 by Karen Weideman

Right now stores are trying to get rid of their abundance of Christmas decorations, gift wrap, gift items, and more.  If you can spare the money, now is a great time to stock up.  Why pay $3.99 for the Princess wrapping paper when you can get it for $1?

This year, I didn’t need a whole lot of things, but I picked up some kid wrapping paper, scotch tape refills, and some gift items.  Last night at Wal-Mart I saw some shatterproof bulbs, which would be perfect for making these adorable keepsake snowmen ornaments.

Some of the stores where I’ve seen great bargains are: Target, Wal-Mart, Michaels, CVS, and Food Lion.

Where have you seen the deals?  Do you shop after-Christmas clearance sales?

We bought a ton of paper, some ribbon/bows at Target. I got some BEAUTIFUL hurricane lamps at Michael’s for just a couple bucks each (they’re more seasonal than just Christmas!) :) I did grab some ornaments at Target too

Hobby Lobby was having all Christmas items at 80% off. I bought gift bags (I usually never buy the really fancy ones). I got some cute Christmas decorations (knick knacks and such). I also got a nice Christmas platter and cake stand. The platter normally sells for $50 and I got it for $10. I also stocked up at Wal Mart (only 50% off) but now I have tons of gift wrap and bags for next year and the years to come.
