Stockpile Opportunity: Strawberries

July 30, 2009 by Karen Weideman

I stopped in Harris Teeter today for just a few moments to snag four 1 pound containers of strawberries.  They’re only $1.25 per carton!  At this price, you can buy some for now and stockpile them in the freezer for those winter months.

I bought four cartons today and I plan to use them for smoothies, baking, and just plain for good eating.  Then I’ll wash, cut, and freeze about two pounds.

Harris Teeter also has some other great sales this week.  I hope to have time later today to do some coupon match-ups for you all, so check back later today or tomorrow.

    Oooh! Yum.

The Safeway in our neighborhood in Washington, DC, has pints of blueberries for 99 cents this week. I’ve bought 14 pints … so far. Berries on cereal. Berries in salad. Berry cobbler for dessert. And best of all, berries frozen to be used in the middle of November.
