Summer clothes for cheap

March 5, 2008 by kellys

I went through my daughter’s clothes for this summer and now I know what she needs.  EVERYTHING!  I will keep you posted as to what I am able to find and how much.  This will help me be held accountable with how much I spend.  My limit is usually $3.50 for an outfit.  We will see how I do.  Wish me luck.

Just curious what you spend on special holiday outfits (Christmas & Easter, mostly). Those are the 2 times I allow myself to spend just a little bit more… but still on clearance!

First time comment but I am a daily lurker! (i have to get my daily dose of frugal sites!)

Just wanted to remind you that I would really like to see how you accomplish $3.50 an outfit and what outfits you actually buy! I don’t think people with little ones remember that they can find some great outfits if they hit the thrift stores at the right times.

I am assuming you buy the same way I do! Consignment shops!

I know the big consignment shopping weekend is coming up soon. I hope you do well!

Hickory Chick, I usually spend around $5 for her special outfits if I have to. But so far, I have done just under that.
Carmen, I will show you some of the outfits I get if I can find some good deals. Otherwise, I am going garage sale shopping. I always do so much better there. It’s therapy for me.

Kmart is having their end-of-season sales but mixed in with it I found great summer/spring PJs, some jean shorts for the kiddos marked down to $3.50 and then 40% off of THAT. It may look like velvety/fleece wintery stuff at first glance – but look closer and you’ll find some great stuff for the season ahead!

I saw some great skirts at my Kmart. I succumbed and got Turkey Butt 2 outfits, 3 pieces each. Spent $17. It was more than the limit of $3.5 per outfit b ut the individual pieces were less than $3 a piece and I got some adorable fleece which is more expensive. I will do my best to download my fab finds this weekend from my used baby store soon.
