Super Bowl and HDTV

I have seen so many commercials lately about buying an HDTV for the big game, Super Bowl.  It is one of the biggest money zappers of the year.  If you didn’t need an HDTV before the game, chances are, you don’t need one now.  I love the video from feed the pig about buying a TV.  You should take a look.  I love that website.

I agree that HDTV is not something that we need. It is a huge chunk of money and something we can totally live without.

However, I succombed to my husbands begging and pleading a year and a half ago and was embarassed by the 56″ rear projection HDTV in the corner of our living room for about six months. Secretly, though, I LOVED it that whole time, and I continue to love it. We are TV fanatics and the biggest chunk of our disposable income goes to cable TV and movie rentals. It’s just our thing. It is the one guilty pleasure in our lives that I finally quit feeling guilty about. For some people it’s eating out, for some it’s drinking, for others it’s fancy cars… for us, it’s TV and movies.

My $0.02. I still agree, though, that it’s totally NOT a necessity. If we were ever in serious financial trouble, it would probably be the first thing to go.
