Feeling Violated

Last night I got home at 9:30 from my trip to see my parents.  I brought in our suitcases, but left the rest of the stuff in my van.  The thought came to me, Maybe I should start locking our van.  Someone could steal the carseats and they cost $150 each.  I hate living like a paranoid person.  I intended to lock the van, but got so busy doing other stuff that I forgot.

Paying cash for a vehicle is possible

I love the idea that you don’t need credit to buy some of the bigger ticket items like cars.  Think it can’t happen?  NCN over at No Credit Needed has a very reasonable plan to replace his vehicles at about the time they would need replacing anyway.  The kicker is that he pays cash for his vehicles and he isn’t even a rich millionaire.  He just knows how to budget his money.  I love his plan but it takes commitment both financially and from your spouse.  So it is not for the faint of heart.  Check him out and let …read more

Get Educated and Save on Car Repairs

When it comes to car repairs I am fortunate because my husband was a mechanic for many years.  That doesn’t mean that he knows everything about cars, but he understands how they work and he is good at finding a reliable mechanic that won’t take advantage of us.
If you or your husband don’t understand the terminology that mechanics use, then you won’t know if you really need the repairs they suggest.  I remember a few years ago we took our van to a a local dealership and they suggested all sorts of repairs for our van.  It was going to cost somewhere around $800!  …read more
