New cell phones

Karen recently has logged her new cell phone service experience.  I really feel her pain!  My cell phone has been on the fritz and would die in the middle of a call or text.  After a few times, it was enough to make a christian curse!  So after DH wasn’t able to reach me for a few days when he needed to tell me something and the school wasn’t able to contact me if Turkey Butt needed anything, we decided to get a new phone.
My suggestion is to really watch  your wallet as Karen said.  Here a a few things …read more

Saving Money on Our Cell Phone Purchase

Recently, I shared with you my cell phone dilemma.  We live out in the boonies and the only service that works well decently is U.S. Cellular.  I had issues with using U.S. Cellular, which I discussed in the article.
One of my aggravations was the activation fee on EACH phone.  We were facing over $100 in activation fees alone.  Then tack on the price of the phones and the higher monthly rates and we would be paying a small fortune for the cell phone switch.
I don’t know about you, but all these extra gimmicks fees really perturb me.  It’s like they’re …read more

Why do we feel it necessary to have cell phones?

Karen has been sharing with you her delima on cell phone service lately.  I have been wondering lately why we feel necessary to have a cell phone anyway.  Granted, we have a huge business plan but we pay almost $200 a month for cell phones.  We use our phones for multiple businesses so DH can justify it but I would be fine if we just had a business line and I didn’t have to have a cell phone to bother me in the car, bathroom, kitchen, etc…
So why do we feel like we have to have a cell phone?  The …read more

Lesser Service for More Money

As many of you know, we recently moved to a new location.  One big problem that I have is that my Suncom cell phone does not work here.  Pretty much, the only service to have here is U.S. Cellular.  I am really struggling with this!!!!
1)  U.S. Cellular is an inferior service to Suncom.
2)  U.S. Cellular costs A LOT more than Suncom.
3)  U.S. Cellular nickel and dimes you for every little thing. (nights starting at 7 pm, texting, etc)
4)  U.S. Cellular has done me wrong.
5)  U.S. Cellular charges an activiation fee for EACH phone.
6)  The roaming areas for U.S. Cellular are …read more

The Cell Phone Blues

The Cell Phone Blues

I seem to be unfortunate when it comes to cell phones.  I have a hard time finding one that I like and they don’t seem to last long . . . well, except for my old Nokia.
I’ve had an old Nokia 3220 for years.  To date, it has been my favorite phone.  I never had any troubles out of it until my husband accidentally dropped it in water.  In the meantime, I used my husband’s old Nokia 3220 (just like mine) until my hubby got me a different phone.  My husband bought me a used chocolate brown Nokia 6260.  Come …read more

Free 411 numbers from your cell phone

Free 411 numbers from your cell phone

Just thought you might like to know that you don’t have to pay the fee to call information from your cell phone.  Instead of 411, dial 1 (800) FREE 411 or 1 (800) 373-3411.  There are no charges.  Just another way to save a few bucks here and there.  That is unless  you are a walking phone book or have one in your car that you can use while driving and trying to dial.  Not a good idea by the way …
