I saw this story a few days ago and couldnt’ believe my eyes. Now, I am all about good time management and multi tasking but I don’t think this mom was going about it in the right direction, no pun intended.

Genine Compton of Ohio was arrested at the beginning of the month for driving, breast feeding, and talking on the phone. Now, I am a proponent of all 3 but not at the same time. There has to be another side of this story. Anybody know it? Because I am not getting it?!?!?!

I am constantly in amazement of all the new things that are coming available for our enjoyment and convenience. It was interesting to learn that some people are now shopping by text. Now, we welcome the convenience of no longer losing coupons.

There is now a company called CellFire.com that allows you to get coupons sent directly to your cell phone. Even better, these coupons can be scanned at the register straight from your phone! Crazy, huh?

Although this technology is new, it promises to deliver advertising that you can count on. For example, both Google and Nokia want to deliver targeted ads to your cell phone. So if you’re driving down the street past a pizza place, you’ll get coupon for that store sent your phone. This will help advertisers track who redeems their coupons and help them avoid the expenses of printing and distributing old-fashioned coupons that could go unused.

While CellFire.com is free, your wireless carrier may charge a fee when you use the service. See the company’s terms of service for more information.

We are so blessed to have readers from all over the world at Thrifty Mommy. I love hearing from all of you because you have great opinions and I am amazed at how different we are around the world yet we are exactly alike. So when I came across this article on international phones for cheap, I was excited to share it with you.

The phone is from National Geographic and allows free incoming calls in 65 countries. Outgoing calls in Europe average $.90/min, more in some countries. You can either buy or rent the phones with no contract to sign. This keeps you free from the proverbial cell phone leash that everyone hates. So check it out if it meets your needs. I am always trying to share the best ways to save money and it seems that everyone has a cell phone and a lot of our readers are world travelers. So let me know how this works for you and if it is a good deal. Sounds like it from this side of the ocean.

Free text messaging

I found a cool blogsites called funny blogger. The other day, they posted on free text messaging. Now I am not for any type of spam. You guys know that. I hate spam! But I went online and looked at the terms of agreement and here are some things I liked about the service.

They want you to tell them if you feel that your information has been shared at any time.
They will help in prosecution of any user that uses their services to participate in any illegal or adult activity.
They will also help in prosecution of any user that harms a child by using their services.

There is nothing worse than getting hit at the end of your cell phone month with a ton of text message charges that you didn’t know was coming. We have free texting so it doesn’t affect us but we have friends that have teenagers and I see the hit your wallet can take with too many texts. So check out the service and see if it will work for you. Hope it helps.

You Can Make FREE 411 Calls

Have you ever been too lazy to look up a number? Dialing 411 is quick and easy, but when you get the bill you might wish that you had opened a phone book. Directory assistance calls from cell phones cost about $1.50. Charges for calls from home can be higher. Instead of dialing 411, try dialing 800-FREE-411. Nokia is marketing 5 frugal cell phones.

I am not a technical person. That is why I married my wonderful husband. However, I am coming to realize that most people can’t live without a cell phone. One of my friends recently told me that she didn’t think I could survive without mine. That is a sad state of affairs. However, they don’t come cheap. Nokia is battling this image and has come out with 5 phones that are on the frugal side. This ought to be interesting. All you techies check it out and let me know what you think.
