Julia Roberts to reuse baby clothes and become frugal

I love it when a celebrity decided to go thrifty! So now Julia Roberts has joined the millions of normal people who swap baby clothes and shop at charity shops and consignment stores. She is due to have her third child with husband Danny Moder in the fall and says she has learned her lesson from her first set of twins. She will reuse their clothes and has graciously accepted hand-me-downs from friends. Sounds like the rest of us. Don’t you think? Welcome to my life, Julia.

Be careful not to buy kids clothes too soon – even with a great deal!

My sister always laughs at me but secretly tries to copy me when it comes to kids clothes.  She called me the other day and said I would be proud of her that she paid $6 for an outfit for her daughter.  I was.  My dear sister also has the advantage of a Carter’s outlet near her house.  I would probably get into a lot of trouble if I had one.
But I was reminded of what she told me one day when I was flea marketing last weekend.  She said that after 2 kids, she learned her lesson the hard …read more

Use those Gymboree gymbucks this week!

Gymboree has their Gymbucks redeemable now through March 15th. So if you have them, don’t let them gain dust. Now is the time to go shopping with little guilt. If you don’t have any gymbucks, I am sure they will be having a good sale to entice the rest of us to come spend some regular bucks.

Huge Savings Now at Hamrick’s

I was tipped off to a clearance sale on summer clothing at Hamrick’s.  Well, Monday I decided to go to Hamrick’s to check it out and I am glad I did!  They were running a sale of 70% off all orange sticker items and the second orange sticker item was just a penny!  Yes, I said a penny.
Here’s what I got:
2 pairs of women’s sandals (1 pair was by Bare Traps)
2 pairs of girl’s sandals
4 pairs of boy’s shorts (1 pair was swim trunks)
1 boy’s Izod t-shirt
2 girl’s hats
1 girl’s 2 piece outfit
And I got all this for only $27!  …read more

Do You Have a Thrifty Costume?

Do you or your child have a thrifty costume this year?  If so, please email me a picture and some details.  Please include how you acquired it (yard sale, consignment store, hammy down, etc.) and how much it cost.  I will be posting some of these pictures and deals later this week.  Check back later.
Until then, here are my thrifty finds.

What a face!  This is my 15 month old son.  He is dressed as Pooh, who is dressed as a bee.  My aunt used to work at the Disney Store.  She got this cute costume for about $5-6 after Halloween a …read more

Children’s Place has their jeans on sale.

Children’s place has their denim on sale.  I love the jeans but only want to pay next to nothing for them.  But anyone who has let their kids wear them knows how good the jeans are.    So right now is a good time to get great jeans for your kids and get this year’s styles.  The baby jeans are on sale for $11 and the big kids jeans are $14.  Not too bad.

Easter Outfits on a Budget

Easter Outfits on a Budget

Let’s talk about Easter. It happens to be one of my favorite holidays because of what it stands for. I also love going to church and out to eat on Easter Sunday just to see what everyone is wearing. I can almost promise you that you will find the brightest, most colorful outfits worn on this day. Come on, you know I’m right.

I can’t tell you the last time I bought a new Easter dress. I just always thought I had better things to buy with my money in the spring like a new pair …read more

Spring sales are all around us.

JCPenny is running a good sale on kids’ clothes as well. There are some really cute clothes for spring and summer for your kids. I just love a sale that will let you clothe your kids and still keep your wallet and pre teen happy. Along with being a thrifty mommy who is frugal with her wallet, I also have extremely small feet. Why does this affect my blog you ask? Because any time I can find a good sale on children’s shoes, my ears perk up. I wear a children’s size 2 ½. …read more

Consignment sales are the BEST!

OK. So I am weird. I love to save money. I also love to get my daughter the cutest clothes without having to go back to work full time to pay for it. That being said… I am really excited about an upcoming event in my area. There is a great consignment sale that happens twice a year. Last fall, I got my daughter, K, 9 winter outfits and a nice high chair for $20.60. You just can’t beat that! I am looking forward to this Spring’s event. Take advantage of …read more
