As I shared earlier this week, we made $2953 at our yard sale last weekend. Prior to that, the most we had ever made was $580. I can’t guarantee that you’ll do as well as we have, but here are some tips to help you get started.
1) Go through closets, dressers, toys, cupboards, cabinets, bookcases, etc before the yard sale. Take out items that you no longer want and add them to your yard sale pile. It’s good to do this at least once a year. You may want to wait until spring when you’re doing your spring cleaning.

Welcome back to Thursday Cleaning Challenge. Sorry we took a few weeks off. So today, I want to challenge you to get a hold of all that clutter in the toy box. If you are a regular reader here, then you know that I’ll be moving in just a few weeks. This move will take us to a much smaller house. Truly, we need to get rid of some things. We have way too much stuff!!!!
It’s not every day that you make a decision to get rid of half of your belongings. As you can imagine, this process is stressful, painful, and time consuming, yet liberating. Today I had to say goodbye to my stoneware and some nice children’s books.
I really liked the stoneware, but didn’t use it much. I …read more

Just about all of us have one. It’s a place that we can’t seem to keep clean and organized no matter what we do.
Here is a picture of my clutter spot. It has been haunting me for two years. Each day I see it and it makes me feel unorganized and burdened. I feel as though I have too much to do and I’ll never get it all done. No matter how many times I go through the papers to file, toss, and shred, the pile is never gone.

If there is a chore that I will procrastinate it is definitely paper clutter. I absolutely hate going through papers, reading them, filing them, shredding them, recycling them. Ugh!!!! All of the Christmas shopping, decorating, wrapping, and get togethers made it a bit too easy for me to put the paper clutter on hold. So today I worked on tackling the mounding pile(s).
I spent several hours today tackling the mound. Now I have a backache from sitting on the floor. It was so bad that I didn’t take any pictures to share with you. lol The kitchen counter and table look …read more

Now that I’m working from home, I’m trying to get a bit more organized. It seemed things had been piling up and getting stuffed here and there until a later time. When we let things pile up, it becomes overwhelming and like a defeating task. Here are some tips to help us stay organized each day.

Last week, I told you how clutter stresses me out and takes time away from my life. I also promised you some tips for decluttering your house. Here goes . . .
1. Commit to change – I said last week that getting organized and decluttering is like losing weight. Really, it is. You have to be committed in order to change. Being organized is a lifestyle. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again . . . clutter is a major problem at my house. I watch shows like “Clean House” and “Clean Sweep” and I think ‘Geez. If I just had them come to my house, I could get this done.’ Honestly though, I’m too embarrassed to be video taped with all my junk. lol
The truth is, you have to stay on top of the clutter issue or it will overtake your house. The clutter in my house is stressing me out and something has to be done. A few months ago, I began a serious …read more
