Grandma Esther’s Spritz Cookies

I was looking through an old Good Housekeeping magazine today and found an article about Kelly Ripa.  Each year at Christmas, she makes hundreds of spritz cookies using her grandmother’s recipe.  They are simple and easy.  I thought you might enjoy having this recipe on file.  You don’t have to wait until Christmas to make them.

You will need:
1 cup skim milk
1 package reduced fat chocolate chip cookies
1 container fat free whipped topping
9×13 dish
You will layer this dessert like a lasagna. First, dunk your cookies in the milk very quickly. After you dunk each one, put it in the pan for your …read more

A Readable Feast

I was visiting A Readable Feast today and thought it would interest my Thrifty Mommy readers.  Anne-Marie shows parents how sharing books with children and doing activities like cooking and crafts helps families stay connected.  While visiting her blog I found a recipe for gingerbread stars.  I thought this recipe would be good to pass on to those of you that will be doing some Christmas baking.

Mini chocolate chip cookies from Nestle solves your problem.

Have you ever told your kids that they can have just 2 cookies knowing that they probably only needed 1 but felt sorry for them? Well I have found a solution in many different ways wrapped up in a small package. Nestle Tollhouse has come out with mini chocolate chip cookies. They are smaller than regular cookies and have 40 in a package that cost the same as a package of 12. You can still let your kids have 2 cookies but they are essentially getting only 1 regular sized cookie and you are getting twice …read more
