Thrifty game with greeting cards

Ever wonder wonder what to do with all those greeting cards we get during the holidays?  Find the ones that have a general theme.  One might be mainly red or have lots of snowflakes on them.  Then take them and cut them up into big pieces.  Now turn them over.  See, your kids have a free game of memory and you don’t have to clutter up the trash can until next month.

Valentine’s Day Craft Ideas for Kids

Valentine’s Day is just two days away and I feel like I have failed you.  I am normally good at giving ideas for holidays (or at least I think I am ) and I am behind on getting ideas to you for Valentine’s Day.  Honestly, I have to blame this crazy cold for part of it.  Thankfully, I am starting to feel better today.  I haven’t had any medicine yet.
Last week at school the students made Valentine cards.  I let them add hearts to the cards with my foam stampers and some hearts cut from construction paper.  I used …read more

Photo Ornaments in 15 Minutes

As a teacher, I am on the look out for cute, easy, and quick arts & crafts for my students.  Here is one that I found this past weekend.  I hope to find time to make this with my students this week.  This is a simple ornament idea that you could do with your child. Perhaps they could make one as a gift for grandma and grandpa.  Thanks to Dumb Little Man for the tip.

Scrap booking contest for real women (and men too)

Confession time…  I don’t scrapbook.  I know it is the worst sin a mother can make except for leaving your kid in the car without climate control.  Don’t write about me, Jay.  HAHA!
I know that most of my friends either scrapbook or at least get the pictures into photo albums before the kids start school.  I have done neither but it is on my list.  What does this have to do with being thrifty?  Simple.  Parents need to take time for their selves to enjoy everything else in life.  Getting caught up in the business of life is just not …read more

Free Halloween Craft Ideas

The internet is full of resources, many of them are free.  Today I stumbled across a list of quick and easy craft projects on the Better Homes & Gardens website.  The ideas are free and you might want to try some of them with the kids.

Some of the ideas I saw are a black cat treat jar, a pumpkin wreath, a pumpkin pillow, Halloween coloring pages, a black cat door hanger, and many more.

Check out these free ideas!
