Save Money with Prescription Promotions

May 17, 2009 by Karen Weideman

For those of you who have prescriptions filled regularly, you should be aware of special prescription promotions.  There are many stores that promote extra savings and gift cards for having your new or transferred prescriptions filled at their store.

prescription drugs from sxc.hu

Stores such as Target and Rite Aid frequently run prescription promotions.  A typical deal is that the store would offer the customer a $10 gift card for a new or transferred prescription that is filled in their store.  Most promotions usually require a coupon so it is a good idea to keep an eye out for these coupons in your local paper.

Whenever Target runs their prescription promotion, my mom gets extra coupons from her friends and family.  She has their prescriptions filled using the coupon, which gives her a $10 gift card for each prescription.  Then she uses the $10 gift cards for other Target purchases or for gifts.  The promotions are a great way to help your dollars go further.

Do you take advantage of prescription promotions?

I bet there are some of you out there that love shopping at CVS and why not, after all don’t you love buying stuff for nothing? Here are a few weekly deals that give you back Extra Care Bucks (ECBs).

Here are what a few people are saying, the Crest/Oral B deal does work if you still have one of those BOGO Coupons with Zooth Toothbrushes. These are the kids toothbrushes and if you are anything like me you have a ton of adult toothbrushes stockpiled but none of the kids.

I also grabbed Veet for $2.40 since they were $4.40 on clearance and I had a coupon from the RIB Magazine, the Essence of Beauty sponges were buy one get one half off (not sure if they still are) and the Blade deodorant sprays were $1.99 but with the $1 off from RIB made it cheaper. As you can see I love to shop for bargains and can’t wait to go back next week. If you haven’t yet the Accu-Check Monitor cost $9.99 and gives you back $9.99 ECBs.

Have a great time shopping. Don’t forget to come back here and list what you got.

Milk and Cereal Deal at Harris Teeter

March 28, 2009 by Karen Weideman

I had to take J to a doctor’s appointment this week.  We passed by Harris Teeter and I suddenly remembered that they were having triple coupons.  Then I was so mad at myself because I didn’t bring my coupons (was driving hubby’s car).  Harris Teeter is 30 minutes from my house.

After the appointment, I decided to take a walk through Harris Teeter to see what their specials were, without the triple coupon savings.  I found several great deals.  I picked up some cube steak, stew meat, boneless chicken, and deli meats and cheese.  All were good prices.

harris-teeter-milk-and-cereal-deal

Then I wandered down the cereal aisle.  Harris Teeter had their Kellogg’s Mini Wheats buy one get one free.  On the shelves were SmartSource coupons to save $1 on 1 box.  Woohoo!  I bought 6 boxes.  The boxes were normally $3.75 each, so I was able to get 2 boxes for $3.75 minus the $2 in coupons.  That made the cereal $.88 per box.  Wow!

I was happy to get the cereal for $.88 per box, but things got better after I paid.  At the end of my purchase, I was handed two coupons, each for a free gallon of milk.  They were compliments of Kellogg’s.  It was some kind of reward system which I think gave one free gallon of milk for every three Kellogg’s item purchased.  I asked the cashier if I could leave my cart sitting next to her checkout while I went back to get the milk.  We can always use milk in our house and I wasn’t sure when I’d be able to make another trip to Harris Teeter.

That means I got 6 boxes of Kellogg’s cereal and 2 gallons of milk for only $5.25!!!

I managed to make another trip to Harris Teeter this week with my coupons and saved a bunch.  This time I purchased 6 more boxes of cereal, but it did not print out any more milk coupons.  I’m guessing there must be a limit.  Even without the milk, it is still a great buy and good stockpiling opportunity.

Good luck everyone.

Today’s Grocery Savings

March 3, 2009 by Karen Weideman
Filed under coupons, sale, saving money

I went to Food Lion today, armed with my coupons and list from The Grocery Game.  I was in such a hurry because I had so much to do today.  I didn’t have time to pinch pennies as much as usual, but I did pretty well.

Before the sales and coupons my total was $86.70.  After the sales and coupons I paid about $49, including tax.  This included regular items that we needed such as milk, eggs, bread, etc.  I didn’t buy any meat though.  I try to only buy meat when it is a really great price.  Then I stockpile while it’s cheap.  Why pay $4.99/lb for meat when you get pay $2.25/lb?

The new sales flyers come out tonight and I’m looking for sales on meat, frozen items, and hypoallergenic laundry detergent.  Let me know if you find anything.  Thanks.

Grocery Deals at Target

February 16, 2009 by Karen Weideman

We went to the big city last night (heehee) and stopped by Super Target.  I found some good grocery deals.

Egglands Best eggs are $1.47/dozen.  This is a great price, as regular large eggs cost more than this sale price.  I bought 3 dozen!

Jones All Natural Sausage are on sale for $1.25 per package of 10 links.  Then, there is a coupon on the box to save $1 on 2 boxes.

Kraft shredded cheese is $2 per 8 oz package.  And if you can find a coupon, even better.

Top round steak is $1.99/lb.  These kinds of steaks are great for stir fry and fajitas, which is a fave around here.  I bought 4 packages.

Pork roast is $2.19/lb.  I bought a 2-3 lb roast and will use this to make Mexican taquitos one meal and chilie verde (new recipe) for church.
