Ever wonder why Easter is so early this year?

I got this in an email and I verified it so I thought I would pass it on.
As you may know, Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20). This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar. Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22)
but that is pretty rare. This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest …read more

Save Big On Easter Items

Today I stopped by Dollar General and their Easter items were 75% off.  Look at all the stuff I got for $1.75.  I also got my preschool class a bag of 70 lollipops for 25 cents.  Now that I think of it, why didn’t I buy the other bag?
I am saving the stuffed animals for the shoeboxes I put together each year for Operation Christmas Child.  Now is the time to stock up while it’s cheap!

Keep your pets safe during Easter

With all the sad news coming out about pet food and recalls, I thought I would help you keep your pets safe for Easter. I ran across an interesting article form Thrifty Fun that tells of the every day Easter items that could be harmful to your pets.

Chocolate – of course! It can cause vomiting, diarrhea, hyperactivity, irregular heart beat, seizures, and death due to the Theobromine
Easter Grass – when digested, it can cause intestinal blockage

Easter Activities

Easter Activities

Usually when a holiday comes around, I do at least one post on fun activities to do with your kids.   Yes, I did post A Natural Way to Dye Eggs, but I didn’t give you a whole list of ideas.  I’m sorry.  I’m not quite sure what happened this time.
Thankfully, my friend Revka at “Little Fun; Little Learning” has done a post of Easter ideas.  If you’re looking for something to do with the kids, you might want to head over there.  Plus, I completed my first guest blogger post at her site, so you might want to take a …read more

A Natural Way to Dye Eggs

A Natural Way to Dye Eggs

I remember being in 4th grade.  We had to give “how to” speeches in front of the class.  One girl gave a speech on how to dye eggs using natural things from your kitchen.  My mom and I tried it right away.
Some suggested items for dyeing eggs are onion skins, red cabbage, coffee, beets, and tumeric.  You’ll need some vinegar too.  Here’s what Martha Stewart has to say:
Dye Recipes
Select a dyeing agent, and place it in the pot using the amount listed below. Add 1 quart water and 2 tablespoons white vinegar to pot; if more water is necessary to cover …read more

Thrifty Deals on Spring Dresses

I was in T.J. Maxx today looking for a bedset for my daughter.  (No luck, by the way.)  While I was there I spotted some beautiful Easter/Spring dresses.  I saw some dresses priced as low as $9.99.  There was a particular dress that I found to be very nice and it was only $24.99.
Another place to shop is consignment stores.  The store where I consign and shop has some really nice dresses priced under $15.
The dress in the picture is from Target.com.  It is available for only $17.99.
You don’t have to spend $75 on your daughter’s Easter dress. Shop around …read more
