Ashley Judd is one of the latest celebrities to design a clothing line.  When Goody’s first approached her she said she wasn’t interested.  Ashley thought there wouldn’t be a company willing to work with her because she is so “idealistic” and her values are “so inflexible”.  

Ashley says: “At first, I wasn’t interested. In my view there is already enough stuff in the world, but when they told me it would raise funds for schools, I changed my mind. “Our schools are in dire need. With my eco-friendly, moderately priced clothes, Goody’s will give away a half a million dollars to schools in need. And that’s just the first year.”

After looking at many celebrities, Goody’s decided on Ashley to represent the new line.  CEO Charles Turlinski said that Ashley personifies the South and is someone who Goody’s customers can resonate with.

Part of the proceeds of the Judd collection will benefit the retailer’s newly created program Good Deeds for Schools. Goody’s is giving away $500,000 in grants to kindergarten-12 schools that demonstrate the greatest need in communities where Goody’s stores are located.

I checked out Ashley’s line at the Goody’s website.  For $17.40, you can purchase the v-neck sweater shown here.  Most items seem to be priced at around $34.  One of the things I really like about Ashley’s collection is that she wanted everything to be machine washable, durable, and able to hold its shape.
