Food Lion is having some great bargains this week which includes some three day sale deals.

Other: My local Food Lion also had Luck’s beans for $.59/can and Food Lion beans 2/$.89. Now would be a good time to stock up on canned beans for the winter months. Red Baron pizza was $3.99 and I had a $1 coupon. I did not see these sales advertised in their paper. Also, if an item is 2/$4 you do not have to buy 2 of the item to get the sale price. As always, you can combine a coupon with the sale for more savings. Check your local store or online ad for specials in your area.

Big Sale at Food Lion

Food Lion is having a great sale this week. I stopped by twice today to pick up some of their bargains. Many are worth stockpiling, which will help save you money later.

Free Milk at Food Lion

Food Lion has another milk promotion going on right now. Buy 6 gallons of milk and get the 7th gallon for free. In the past, Food Lion would print out milk tickets each time you purchased a gallon of milk (with your MVP card), but this time the gallons purchased are showing up on your receipt. This should make it a lot easier.

Normally this promotion varies by area, but when I went to the main Food Lion site without signing in, this showed up on the homepage. Still, it is a good idea to see if this sale is going on in your local area.

This promotion is going on July 22 – October 13, 2009.

Stockpile Opportunity: Pasta & Applesauce

Hello everyone. I went to Food Lion last night to pick up a few things and found a few bargains. Here’s a few deals I found:

Marie Callendar’s frozen dinners and entrees are buy 1 get 1 free. Then be sure to look on the freezer door for the blinkie machine. There is a coupon for $.75 off one Marie Callendar’s Pasta Al Dente entree. The pasta entrees are normally $3.99 and are on sale for $2. Using the coupon makes them only $1.25! If your blinkie machine is out of coupons (like mine) look inside on the freezer shelves. Sometimes they get dropped inside. I found 3-4 extra coupons on the shelves.

White House High School Musical applesauce is on close-out. Get a 6-pack of applesauce for $1.25. I didn’t have any coupons for these, but it is still a pretty good deal. These come in different flavors such as mango, cherry, cinnamon, and regular.

If you have the space and a need for the items, I’d recommend stockpiling the pasta dishes and the applesauce.

Stockpile Opportunity: Kraft Cheese

In the past few weeks, I’ve mentioned why I stockpile groceries and also told you some about the things I’m stockpiling. A few weeks ago, I stockpiled ground chuck while it was $1.69/lb and I also bought a few packs of boneless chicken breasts. It wasn’t the lowest price I’ve paid, but at $1.99/lb I decided to buy some for the freezer.

Also, last week I shopped at Harris Teeter while they were having their triple coupon sale. I ended up with about $160 in groceries for only $60. My cabinets are pretty full right now and other than fresh items (milk, bread, egg, lunch meat, fruit) there’s not a whole lot I need.

Today I did stop at Food Lion to pick up some milk and eggs and discovered that their Kraft cheese slices (12 oz package) are on sale 4/$5. You have to buy four packages to get the deal. Otherwise, it will cost you a bit more. I bought the four packages. With three kids home for the summer, I’m sure we’ll have no problem eating the cheese. Besides, the expiration date isn’t until December 2009.

I regret that I also missed out on Food Lion’s 2-day sale. I didn’t look at the flyer earlier in the week and missed out on buying Pampers Easy Ups for $7.99 . . . and you know I’d have a coupon to go along with that deal. Oh well.

Sometimes Food Lion’s prices vary by location, so it’s a good idea to check the online flyer. Good luck and happy stockpiling!

Stockpile Opportunity at Food Lion

I had to take the cat to the vet today ($$$$$, sigh) and stopped in Food Lion for a few things. They have some of their Kellogg’s cereals buy 1 get 1 free. What makes this deal so great is that the $1 Kellogg’s coupons are still on the shelves. Save $1 on each box of Kellogg’s cereal. Combine a coupon with a bogo opportunity and you can save big!

There is a limit of 2 free boxes per transaction. I did two transactions so that I could get 8 boxes of cereal. With the buy 1 get 1 free sale and the $1 coupon, the cereal ends up being around $.67-$.75 per box. Isn’t that great?!? With our family of five, we go through a lot of cereal.

The cereals that are on sale are Kellogg’s Special K varieties, Apple Jacks, Fruit Loops, and Rice Krispy treats.

Another stockpile opportunity is applesauce. The Food Lion applesauce and the Whitehouse High School Musical applesauce is buy 1 get 1 free. This makes the applesauce $1.10-$1.25 each.

By the way, I had to drive back out again to pick the cat up from the vet and I stopped in Food Lion again for 4 more boxes of cereal. I got 2 boxes of Special K, 1 box of Fruit Loops, and 1 box of Rice Krispies for $2.89, including tax! This means I bought 12 boxes of cereal today. My husband says they’re going to change my name from Thrifty Mommy to Cereal Mommy. lol

*There is also a $1 Kellogg’s coupon in the April 5th Red Plum coupon insert of the paper.

Stockpile Opportunity: Pop Tarts

I went to Food Lion yesterday to do my weekly grocery shopping. I was going to pick up one box of Pop Tarts. They are regularly $2.39 per box, but they were on sale for $1.67 per box and I had a $.55 coupon. This would make them $1.12 per box, for a savings of 51%.

When I got to the Pop Tart section, I noticed that the new ones with 20% more fiber had a $1.00 coupon on the boxes. Save $1 on 1 box? Oh yeah! I didn’t clear the shelves, but I bought 12 boxes of Pop Tarts for $.67 per box.

I’m not sure if all of the fiber Pop Tarts have this coupon, but it might be worth your while to check. This sale ends tomorrow.

Lunchables on Sale at Food Lion

I normally don’t buy my child expensive lunches such as lunchables, however, they are on sale this week at Food Lion. The normal price of the Lunchables is $1.99, but they are on sale for $1. I bought a few this week and when I did, the register printed out a coupon for them. I went back later and bought a few more and it printed out another coupon. Alligator girl was thrilled to have something different in her lunch.

By the way, the Lunchables website has some games on there that you kids can play. That’s good marketing on their part, huh?

Free Milk at Food Lion

A few times each year, Food Lion has a special on their store brand milk. The special is buy 6 gallons of milk and get the 7th gallon for free. The Food Lion here is running the special August 20 through December 9. That gives you plenty of time to get free milk.

Some tips:

Check your local Food Lion store to see when they will be running the sale. To get the free milk, make sure that the cashier scans your MVP card. For each gallon you purchase, the cashier should give you a milk coupon at the end of the transaction. You need to save the milk coupons/tickets (not caps) from the transaction. After you have 6 milk coupons, you can turn them in for a free gallon.
