So <wink> Karen came up this weekend so we could knock out the beginning of your surprise. Little did we know it would literally take us 4 days to get it started. We did and now you are one step closer to fun! I have to say that I learned some things this weekend about my friendship with Karen that I wanted to share with you. I hope you all have such a great friend as I do.

She is as blunt as a needle (I already knew this but it was fun)

She is a cheap they come (already knew this too!)

She loves to cook. I tried to take her out to eat as a treat but I think it just frustrated her. Sorry kiddo!

She really needed time to herself. We as primary parents should take a day or two away from everyone every once in a while. We deserve it and our families appreciate us more when they have to fend for themselves.

I needed parenting advice evidently.

Man she can type!

I get distracted easily but she can’t stay off her email or Thrifty Mommy for more than 30 minutes HAHA!!

We can accomplish just about anything when we put our minds to it!

I had a great time, Karen. Thank you for all you did this weekend. BTW … My kitchen is still clean and vinegared. DH fell asleep early!

Friends … Karen and her family came up for a visit this weekend. We are having such a great time! Her kids are very well mannered and Turkey Butt is almost behaving and sharing her toys. Well, almost. HAHA! Her little boy is cracking me up. Karen’s DH painted the girls’ fingernails and toe nails this morning outside on the deck and my little girl was thrilled.
Benefits … Karen brought me 7, not 6 or 8 but 7, bags of clothes for the kids. Now that is a great thrifty benefit! What [...]
Post from: Thrifty Mommy

If you are a part of a frugal family or community of friends, then moving can be a rewarding experience. Here is a great idea for hosting a moving party. Make it a weekend long experience and have a ball!

We all have girlfriends that we love who have cool stuff. So remember that when you are moving and offer to have a room full of freebies. That way you don’t have to pack what you don’t want to pack.

Get plenty of boxes and divide your friends into rooms. Make a game of packing and offer prizes that you know your girlfriends would like for first, second, and third place in finishing.

Offer a delicious pizza dinner at the end of the day with a baby sitter there so that you can relax one last time with your girlfriends before you leave.

Whatever your girlfriends don’t want to take out of the freebie room, pack up and take to the goodwill or have a yard sale. Don’t look back. Just purge!

And my favorite part of a moving party – if you are invited to one, offer to have a babysitter for the kids at your house. That way you don’t have the kiddos running around for a short time and you ladies can get a ton more done!

Nobody likes to move. Especially when you are leaving your friends. I also don’t know anyone who likes to pack. But I do know a lot of girlfriends who like to be helpful and hang out before losing a dear friend. So offer the idea of a moving party for the girlfriends and enjoy one last hoorah before she goes.
