Staying healthy is actually a killer way to save some cash – pretty much all year long. For this specific post though, we’ll look at springtime colds. It’s on my mind, because everyone around me is sick. You’d think that with spring here folks might be feeling peppy and well, but all I’ve seen lately is sick people.
If you can manage to avoid spring colds, your immune system will be at peak performance, and you hopefully won’t get even more sick and need an expensive trip to the doctors or medications.

Hand Sanitizers and urban legends
My church sent out an email telling us that they are pulling all hand sanitizers off the shelves and out of the class rooms effective immediately! Reason?!?! A 4 year old licked the hand sanitizer off her hands instead of rubbing it o n her hands. Most emails are urban legends but this one has been proven true by not only snopes but urban legends as well.

I’ve talked to several people lately that wash their dishes by hand because they believe they’re saving energy. Actually, doing less work can save you more money and it also helps the environment.
According to Consumer Reports, an efficient dishwasher can use less water than washing dishes by hand, no matter how frugal you are at the faucet.
Here are some other tips to lower your bill while using your dishwasher:
1. Only run your dishwasher when it is full.
2. Turn it on the energy saver cycle.
3. Don’t prerinse your load.
