It’s National Doughnut Day and your two biggest doughnut chains are celebrating by offering their customers free doughnuts!

At Dunkin’ Donuts, get a free donut with a beverage purchase. At Krispy Kreme, there is no purchase necessary.

I can imagine the lines will be long today, but hope you can enjoy a free doughnut.

Buy 1 dozen donuts at Krispy Kreme and get 1 dozen free Valentines. Plus, each card is a coupon to get a free donut. So basically, if you buy 1 dozen donuts, you’ll get a dozen donuts free. My cashier did not give the Valentines to me without my asking, so make sure you ask! I thought about giving out my Valentines, but have decided against it. I like the chocolate custard filled a little too much.

Tomorrow is Doughnut Day at Krispy Kreme. On June 6, Krispy Kreme will be offering their customers one free doughnut of their choice.

“National Doughnut Day is one of our most anticipated days at Krispy Kreme. We get to give back to our loyal customers by offering a doughnut on us and celebrating everyone’s favorite sweet treat,” said Stan Parker, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. “Whether it’s a cruller or a Hot Now Original Glazed, we are providing the community with a small gift of thanks.”

National Doughnut Day was established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to raise funds during the Great Depression and to honor the work of World War I Salvation Army volunteers who prepared doughnuts for thousands of soldiers. National Doughnut Day is celebrated annually on the first Friday in June.
