Happy Memorial Day! I hope that you all are enjoying this day with friends and family.

I am so thankful for the sacrifice that our military has made over the years for our freedom and safety. Freedom is not free. Having grown up in a military town made me very aware of the duties and sacrifices of our service men and women, as well as those of the wives and families they left behind. I hope that you’ll take the opportunity to tell them “thank you” today.

I also want to state that I do not find it funny that someone would target our military. That is totally unacceptable.

I usually don’t try to involve politics on a blog about time management and kids. Not to mention that I have a sick sense of humor sometimes. This is definitely one of those times. I also want to state that I do not find it funny that someone would target our military. That is totally unacceptable.
OK. Picture this. You are a terrorist and want to pick a high profile target to make a political statement. It has been done before, unfortunately. And in today’s times, this is a real threat we live with every day. So please don’t think I am crazy or take it lightly, although if you have read our blog you already know that I sometimes find the oddest things funny, but the story that came out this morning had me rolling.

So we are back to picturing a terrorist picking his/her target. they have hit mass transit, federal buildings, and have used buses, vans, backpacks and planes all over the world. The story coming out of New Jersey has to be the funniest story I can think of as far as a good target for a fight. 6 men have been working within the US to pick a target to go into and terrorize. Did they pick a civilian target that would gain sympathy? Maybe the cowardly target with women and children? OH NO!!! They picked a military base. HELLO!! The people there have guns and will fight back.

I am not sure if this story should scare me because someone actually was in my country and was about to carry out another terrorist plot (although it does and I am thankful for the diligence of our government’s protection) or the idea that they were stupid enough to pick a military base as a target. This isn’t a foreign country that allows you to gain glory for killing yourself. You will get no glory over here. Just a coffin. Our men and women in uniform take their job seriously and any loss of life is taken personally. If you think ticking off our country and our military by coming onto our soil and backhanding us a couple of times in a civilian place is worth your life, then come onto an actual base in our country and find out how mad our men and women in uniform will get when you actually pick on their own.

Think about it. Can’t you just see a cartoon that has a couple of ants walking onto a US military base stateside with guns and bombs and our soldiers just stepping on them with a caption that states “You’ve got to be kidding me!” Maybe you had to be with me when I heard it or maybe I am not telling this the right way if you aren’t smiling by now. But I have the utmost respect for our military and so should you, no matter what you feel about the mission. Our men and women in uniform are phenomenal and should be given their due respect.

So come on up and see what you get when you cross the bridge onto a military base with anything other than the utmost respect for what they do. If you think college hazing can get bad ( I am NOT an advicate for any form of this by the way), then tick off a US soldier and disrespect them in their home and see what you get. Thank you also to our government for staying true to protecting us here at home.
