I have a big issue. It’s with people that think they need to ask for my social security number. It is such a hot button for me.
One reason this may be such a sensitive topic for me is because a member in our family was a victim of identity theft. Thankfully, it was caught very early before any damage was done. The person committing the crime? An office worker at a doctor’s office. Yes, you heard me correctly.

Identity theft hits close to home for me. It was only a few years ago that a family member’s social security number was used by someone in a respected profession to obtain a credit card. Fortunately, this issue was caught pretty quickly, thanks to the credit card company’s rule of activating the credit card only from the applicant’s phone.

Live Traffic Feeds

This doesn’t really have anything to do with being thrifty. Consider it food for thought.
I’ve seen several blogs out there lately that have a box in the corner labeled Live traffic feed that tells incoming visitors’ blog names as well as the location of the blogger. This may seem really cool to see all the places in the world where bloggers are coming from, but please know that most bloggers I know do not give their exact location to others.
By having a live traffic feed on your blog, you are revealing someone’s personal information without asking them.
