Growing your own garden

Don’t laugh at me but I am not a gardener. I will, however, try to grow my own herbs and spices this summer. I loved cooking with fresh basil and bay leaves in my Lasagna Soup and Lindsey was very encouraging.
So try growing something this summer with your kids. I bet they will have a ball. And Lindsey is right, if they help you grow it, I bet they will help you eat it too! What a great way to get some veggies in your kids without a fight.

What a quick and easy chicken recipe
I love cruising around recipes. Yesterday, I found a great Baked Chicken Amandine recipe. It was super easy and cheap. The almonds were probably the most expensive thing. Check back tomorrow to find a few quick tips on chicken. BTW, even my 15 month old Little Man asks for seconds. I just have to make sure he gets no almonds as he still doesn’t have but 2 teeth.
Cheddar Bacon Deviled Eggs
I love deviled eggs. I also love variations. So when I came across this recipe, i tried it and loved it! Hope you enjoy.
Ingredients needed:
12 eggs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
4 slices bacon
2 tablespoons finely shredded Cheddar cheese
1 tablespoon mustard
1/4 tsp pepper
paprika to sprinkle
Directions:
Place eggs in a saucepan, and cover with cold water.
Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat.
Cover, and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes.
Remove from hot water, and cool.
To cool more quickly, rinse eggs under cold running water.
Meanwhile, place bacon in a large, deep skillet.
Cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown.
Alternatively, wrap bacon …read more

My Slow Cooker

I think when most people think of the slow cooker and the things that we cook in it, they think winter. I know that was my first thought before I learned that the slow cooker can be my best friend. I have learned that you can cook almost anything in your slow cooker and it really saves lots of time. On those busy summer days when you want to be at the pool but you feel like you need to cook instead, pull out your slow cooker. Several of my friends say that this way of cooking is not for …read more

Frugal Food Recipes

WE at Thrifty Mommy have showed you several ways to save money with coupons and working store sales. Karen is really good at it. The last time I went to the store, I had $8 in baby food coupons and saved $12 off my baby food trip by just shopping the store sales at my local Food Lion. I also saved 25% total off my bill with no coupons, just by shopping what they had on sale. If it wasn’t on sale, I didn’t buy it. Imagine if I had my coupons with me.
So when I came across this list …read more
