Beware of anyone that calls you claming to be a jury coordinator. In this scam, the person will claim that you never appeared for jury duty and there is a warrant for your arrest. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer ask you for your social security number and date of birth so that he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Are Rebates a Rip Off?

The Wall Street Journal sent five people out to buy five different items at five different retailers. All the products purchased came with rebates. All five people correctly filled out the necessary paperwork to get the rebates. Yet only one person actually got money back. That’s only 20 percent!
Some stores, such as Office Max have eliminated rebates and lowered prices. Some stores offer easy online rebates. I know it’s hard to resist some of these rebate offers, but the success rate is something to consider.

I’m sure that most of you have heard about the rebate checks that should be coming from the government this year. Wherever there’s money, there are scammers. Beware of emails and phone calls from people claiming they work for the IRS.
These scammers are trying to scare you into thinking they’re from the IRS. What they really want is for you to give them your personal banking information. They’ll even stoop to telling you that you can’t get your rebate until they confirm your checking account number.

I got a possible scam phone call today so be careful

Thrifty Mommy readers, be aware! My DH just got a call from Tom Cole, Oklahoma’s representative, and he wanted to give my DH a leadership award. Immediately I thought it was a scam. Turns out, it might be a little real but they probably want money in return. DISCAIMER: I do not know this for sure. I did some research online and most people said that they were asked for money.
