My shoe dilemma

I have extremely bad feet. I am not talking about the gross kind. I mean that I had surgery on my feet when I was 25. Every time I take a step, I sheer off part of my big toe joint due to the way my legs and hips are formed. Sounds painful? It is. Nonetheless, I am what the old people call orthotic dependent. I can’t go barefooted and if I don’t have my orthotics in my tennis shoes, I can’t walk without pain. I have 1 pair of tennis shoes …read more

Frugal shoe dilemma

Do me a favor and vote on the latest poll about how much you spend on shoes and I will let you in on a small shoe dilemma I am having.  But I don’t want to influence your vote in any way so I will let you know the dilemma in a few days.

Stephon Marbury of the New York Knicks lends his name to a great shoe, the Starbury One

I can’t stand the new mentality of teenagers that says that if your shoes cost less than $80, they aren’t worth wearing. Who teaches these kids this? Whatever happened to the thrifty challenge of making your wardrobe look like a million bucks but only costs maybe $30. You hear stories about people being robbed on the street for their clothes, shoes, and jewelry. Why, I ask… Why?!?!?!?!
And then there are the stars that endorse a particular shoe that costs $100 or more. I won’t mention anybody by name :cough: Jordan… So when I heard …read more

Unbelievable Deals At Belk This Weekend

Some of you may know that I am also a teacher.  (Well, I’m teaching part-time right now while the kids are little.)  Anyway, Belk has given the schools coupons to sell as a fundraiser.  The coupon books are $5 each, but each book contains a $5 coupon, as well as some other coupons for 30% off, 20% off, etc. .  I decided to head out to Belk tonight to try and sell some more coupons for my school.  While I was there I found some great deals.  I did some shopping using the $5 off coupon and the 30% off coupons.  I purchased …read more

Birkenstocks on sale.

Everybody knows that I wear a children’s size 2.5 shoe.  I catch a lot of grief for it and that is ok.  Besides, I like to pick on my friends about getting to shop at the “big girls” shoe stores.  So I found it ironic that I wandered into the local Birkenstock store today and found some really cute sandals on sale.  It’s not like I could wear them.  But they were regularly $200? (I can’t remember the exact amount) and now they are on sale for $90.  I count that as a great sale.  They had a cool little …read more
