Americans eat too much salt and eating too much salt can cause high blood pressure!  Most of us know that high blood pressure can cause heart disease and other health problems. 
Most of our sodium intake comes from processed and packaged foods.  Sodium is the part that increases blood pressure.
Health experts recommend 1,100 – 3,300 mg of sodium per day for healthy adults, yet most people eat 2,300 to 6,900 mg per day. This is way too much sodium!!!!
Controlling your sodium intake can reduce your chances of getting high blood pressure.  High blood pressure is a reading of more than 140/85.
