Summer is coming soon and sunburns are inevitable. Ever go by the sunburn isle and glance at the prices of those “sure fire” sunburn cures? You could spend a fortune. When I was a little girl, my grandma would always have an aloe vera plant around for when we got any kind of burn. My mom would have a bottle of vinegar handy all summer. Turns out, according to the frugal guru, Pat Verreto, both are great. She has some other great ideas such as using cool tea and peppermint tea. Here comes the sunny season. READY … SET… GO!

Ok, I’m just cheap and vinegar is multifaceted. You can use it for just about anything from cleaning to rust removal. I actually used it to remove plaster from my linoleum floor when we moved into our new house and had to plaster the walls. Have a bad sunburn? Fill a bowl with ice and cover it with vinegar. Then soak a wash cloth with the cold vinegar and place it on the sunburn until the washcloth is warm. Repeat this until the sting and heat goes away. You will peel less and the sting will be gone. I buy a bottle of vinegar at the beginning of every summer. Thanks, Mom, for the great summer ritual! Michelle Satanek from frugal fun has compiled another fabulous list of vinegar uses.
