This weekend Toys ‘R Us is giving away free Thomas wooden trains. You get to choose one of four trains. Choose Thomas the Tank Engine, Lights & Sounds Percy, Sir Handel, or Peter Sam. To get your train, you’ll need this printable coupon. Limit 1 train per customer. This coupon can be used Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22.

Free Thomas the Train activities at Toys r Us

Toys R Us is having a Thomas the Train day this Saturday, June 28th. There will be story time every half hour, Thomas the Train and friends wooden railway play table time, and coloring fun. Nothing like some free entertainment for your kids as long as you aren’t tempted to buy anything while you are there. This is very good advertising so be careful not to spend any money there. Keep it free!

Just when you think the madness might end . . .
Schylling Associates has announced a recall of about 66,000 spinning tops and 4,700 tin pails in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Surface paints on the wooden handles of the tops and pails contain excessive levels of lead, which violates the federal lead paint standard.

Thomas the Train recall for lead

It seems that here recently there have been many recalls for toys, clothes, etc… due to high lead levels. Thomas the Train has fallen victim this week. Turns out, I heard on the radio from one of the major talk show hosts that we will be seeing a lot more. China doesn’t have as strict of manufacturing restrictions as we do, so they are finding more and more of the products being manufactured there with unsafe lead levels according to our restrictions.
