Target has done a great job of making some popular name brands thrifty. Now you can walk into Target and pick up some things by Isaac Mizrahi or Liz Lange for reasonable prices. And then if they’re on clearance, that’s even better!
Now Vera Wang will be adding her own line of thrifty garments to Kohl’s. Vera Wang, who is known for her line of wedding gowns, will be offering her chic dress designs to Kohl’s customers for only $69.
Gwen Stefani will also be expanding her L.A.M.B. line to include fragrances sold by Coty Inc.
I am looking forward to more popular …read more
Great deals on Christmas shipping
The holidays have officially begun. I love this time of year. The hustle and bustle of the shopping and making sure that all the decorations are up makes me get up and go! I know … I’m weird. But you love me anyway, don’t you?!?! One of my favorite traditions is going shopping on Black Friday with my MIL. We have a blast and then the men meet us with the kids for dinner. It’s great! This year we were talking about online shopping and she said that she doesn’t do it at all. I thought, “How sad”. At least …read more
It’s Not Too Late for Yard Sales

I know it’s cold outside, but it’s not too late for a yard sale. My friend and I have been trying to schedule a yard sale for months now. We finally got our schedules straight and had one Saturday.
It certainly is cold outside at 6 a.m. in November. We were freezing while we were putting stuff out, but we continued to work hard. As the sun started coming out, we began to get customers.
Fortunately, we had an excellent location on a very busy road. I believe this was the major factor in our yard sale success. Buyers continued arriving even …read more
Men wearing women’s jeans?
I have noticed lately that guys want to wear women’s jeans. I am not too sure about this fashion statement, but i do know that it CAN’T be saving them any money. Just look at Old Navy for instance. Most of their jeans for men and women cost about the same … Anywhere from $20-$35. So why the facination with our clothes?
Is it because for years we have worn your baggy t-shirts and sweatshirts? Hint… We wear them sometimes to remind ourselves of your smell. Not so we can look like you. …read more

It’s Fall again. I love this time of year. Don’t get me wrong, I am not one who likes cold weather. For me, if there is of white stuff on the ground then there is no reason for the cold stuff. One of my favorite things about this time of year is the mums. They are beautiful and perfect for color in your garden.
When you go, don’t fall into the trap of getting the big, beautiful mums. Pick a smaller plant that is less expensive. It might take 2 seasons to grow into a massive mum but you will be …read more

I was very excited when I looked at the CVS online flyer today. They are having a sale on CVS brand diapers and kid pants; buy 1 pack get a pack FREE!!!! Yay!!! I have been waiting for this sale. They run it a few times a year.
Now is the time to stock up. Stocking up not only saves you money, but also saves you those unexpected moments of running out of diapers. I know I’ve run out before and I’ve had to go out to the van and use up my few that I keep there. Worse yet, I’ve had to go to …read more
Thrifty shopping 101 for husbands.
I love the post from Of Fish and Family, The Thief Within, on her DH’s shopping trip. Her husband and mine are so much alike. It is never a good idea to send my DH to the store when he is anywhere near hungry. The bill is always a minimum of $150 and he will come home with 3-5 pieces of each item he gets. Then we will have to clean out the freezer to get everything in. The only good thing is that I won’t have to go grocery shopping for a while and he knows exactly what was …read more
Success at Food Lion.
Success at the grocery store! I usually don’t shop at Food Lion very much. Wal-Mart is usually cheaper so I save gas and just do all of my shopping there. However, every once in a while, they run a good enough sale to justify going. This week they have Bing cherries on sale for $1.99 with an MVP card. They are regularly $6.99/lb. Food Lion is also famous for their buy one, get one free sales. Well, tonight I went shopping and used their sales to my advantage. I spent $34 on …read more
Terry Grahl’s Enchanted Cottage shows a great example of thrifty living.

Every once in a while, I will get a comment on one of my posts that intrigues me. I went to Terry Grahl’s website, Terry’s Enchanted Cottage, and had a great time. She loves to decorate with flare! What I liked about it was that she did it will real vintage stuff without the vintage price. Every once in a while she will get a really deal and has made money off it. For instance, according to the article in the Downriver News Herald, she bought a 1950’s “Toni” doll in mint condition for $10. She sold it for $500. …read more
