Thursday Cleaning Challenge – Clean out those drawers

Today’s Thursday Cleaning Challenge will help you tackle that bathroom. I just got through cleaning out my bathroom drawers. I had no idea what kind of half used or awful products that were still in there. So I took a few minutes while the kids were playing in the bathtub to clean out the drawers. If you haven’t used it in the last few months, toss it. Don’t think about it. Use the rule “touch it once”. If you haven’t used it in a few months, toss it and don’t put it back. Good luck. Thursday Cleaning Challenge – Windows

If you are feeling froggy today, get out and clean 3 windows. See I am not asking for much. Just pick the 3 most seen windows and clean them. There is nothing worse than looking out a dirty window. Thursday Cleaning Challenge – Sort those toys

No parent I know likes to admit it, but the toys in our homes are asexual! Stop laughing at me. You know it is true. I am looking at my toys and am realizing that I am going to have to sort them again before we bring in new toys from Christmas. This time, I am going to let the DH do it. No I am not being lazy. But I can look at the toys and see where each one is played with every once in a while. My DH, however, looks at them a little more objectively. So I am actually going to let him go through them this time. If there is an obvcious toy that needs to stay, then I will put it back. Then, and only then, I will let the kids pick a toy to give to another kid in order to allow them to help with the process and to learn to take ownership of purging.

So this weeks, Thursday Cleaning Challenge is to purge the kids toys so that when Christmas comes, you won’t be totally overwhelmed. Hope this helps.

I found black specks all over the top of my clothes. Then I looked at the top of my washing machine ring. What I saw was a small ring of dirt and black junk. So I cleaned out the black junk. All I can say is Yuck!!! But now I can honestly say that my washing machine is officially clean. I also cleaned out the fabric softener dispenser with a rag. Now I know my washing machine is clean and ready to go.

I love a bleached sink. I love the idea of a clean sink. I admit I have a sink fettish! My entire house can be a mess (and usually is) but my kitchen sink has to be clean. This Thursday Cleaning challenge is uber easy. Just fill your kitchen sink with hot water and a cup of bleach and walk away. Don’t even think about it for 10 minutes. Then just drain and rinse. Thursday Cleaning Challenge – How is your car seat and high chair?

Today’s Thursday Cleaning Challenge is to clean out your kids’ car seats and high chairs. Take the covers off and clean the hardware. Don’t just wipe them down. Take the material off as far as you can and wash what you can. Then put them back together and realise that you wouldn’t want to sit in food and yuck. They shouldn’t have to either. Thursday Cleaning Challenge – Get your kids involved

Today’s Thursday Cleaning Challenge is to get your kids involved. A good friend of mine, Mom of 14 told me that she tricks her kids into helping by telling her little ones that cleaning is a grown up thing to do. Whenever you tell your kids that something is a grown up thing to do, they automatically want to help. Then she lets them dust the baseboards and the low stuff. Turkey Butt loves to vacuum. She did the living room for me the other day and she got a bowl of ice cream for it. Granted, that was desert for dinner and it was 1 scoop, but it was a great way to get her to help and she loves to use the vacuum. So find a way to get your kids involved.

Thursday Cleaning Challenge – Time to tackle a closet again

Today’s Thursday Cleaning Challenge is a repeat but not … I want you to take a quick look into your hall closet. You know the one with all the jackets and shoes and catch all junk that you stuff out of the way when company comes over. So now it’s time to clean it out. Go through and throw out at least 10 things. Just bring a trash bag with you and throw out the things you didn’t even realize were in there. Freshen up the coats for the upcoming winter and then fix yourself a tall glass of tea to drink.

Thursday Cleaning Challenge – Clean that washing machine

Today’s Thursday Cleaning Challenge is to clean out the pipes in your washing machine. This won’t take but about 5 minutes. Get the owner’s manual that I know you have out every day and find out how to dismantle the inflow and outflow valves and clean out every connection and tube that carries water in and out of your washing machine. You would be surprised how much junk gets trapped in those tubes. Here is a trick to this … Please read.

Just kidding. What I want you to do is fill your rinse cycle and your bleach cycle with vinegar and run a load of clothes. Do this for the next 2 loads you wash and it will clean out your washing machine. Your clothes will not smell and they will be extra soft as vinegar is a natural fabric softener and whitener.

Thursday Cleaning Challenge -Organize your puzzles

My kids love puzzles. The problem I have with it is that we loose pieces and then the puzzle is no good. Ever try to work a puzzle with a few pieces missing? Very frustrating! So I want to challenge you to spend time with your kids and put together their puzzles. Once they are put together, get out a Ziploc bag and put the entire puzzle in it and ZIP IT UP! This way you don’t waste money or space with puzzles that you can’t put back together.
