]]> I am going to share an email with you that I got recently but keep this in mind.  If we, as women, can think so quickly and specifically to get what we want, why can’t we do the same thing so easily with saving money?  Saving money is simple.  Take it one step at a time.  Tune in tomorrow and I will explain in greater detail my latest money saving technique that saves me at least $20 a month to put towards Christmas.

 Jennifer’s wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement, not even her parents’ nasty divorce. Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best dressed mother-of-the- bride ever !

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father’s new young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother! Jennifer asked her stepmom to exchange it, but she refused. ‘Absolutely not. I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I’m wearing it,’ she replied.

Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, ‘Never mind sweetheart, I’ll get another dress. After all, it’s your special day.’

A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, ‘Aren’t you going to return the other dress? You really don’t have another occasion where you could wear it.’

Her mother just smiled and replied, ‘Of course I do, dear. I’m wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.’

]]> When my husband and I got married, we paid for over half of it ourselves.  My parents helped some but most of it fell on our shoulders.  We did our best and had a candlelight service with around 350 guests with heavy hors d’oeurves .  Our total cost was around $5000.  The Boston Herald has some great ideas on  how to save money on a great wedding with all the trimmings without all the money.  Wish I had read it before I got married.
