Recently I was sent a bag of Weight Watcher’s newest desert, Pecan Crowns. They are 1 point and absolutely delicious. I usually don’t like deserts, just ask Karen, but these are really good. They are like those wonderful pecan turtles minus the guilt. The chocolate melts in your mouth and I would wholeheartedly recommend eating them for a guilt free desert.

There’s something about a new year that causes us to make resolutions. I think it causes us to take a look at our lives and see things that should be different. A new year seems to be a fresh start.
Resolutions about weight loss, debt reduction, and spending habits seem to be the most popular. The problem with our resolutions is that they are resolutions and not solutions that will help us reach our goals.

Happy New Year from us at Thrifty Mommy. We pray that you will have a blessed and prosperous year.

Instead of saying that you want to lose weight this year, try making it more specific. For instance, you say that you will lose 20 pounds this year. To reach your goal you are going to join the YMCA, commit to working out 4 times a week, and limit yourself to one small splurge a day, etc. If you have a method of reaching your goals, then they won’t seem so far out of sight and then you won’t give up so quickly.

Here are some example of resolutions vs real solutions from Marybeth Whalen:

Resolution: I am not going to charge on credit cards this year.
Real solution: I am going to cut up my credit cards and cancel my accounts so I cannot make charges.

Resolution: I am going to be a better steward of my money.
Real solution: I am going to be accountable to someone and pray before spending.

Resolution: I am not going to make impulse purchases.
Real solution: I am going to wait at least three days to make all purchases. If I still want the item after that time, I will go back.

A real solution is characterized by having measurable parameters paired with an intentional attitude.

Click here for more on this article by Marybeth.

We hope that you will have a thrifty year. We hope that you will continue to visit our site for more thrifty tips to help save you time and money. Happy New Year!!!!

Note … I am not advocating this or any other diet. Just wanted to throw it out there for you to ponder.
