Thrifty Mommy

Teacher’s Gifts

 gift.JPG

Preschool ended today which means everyone brought in elaborately packaged gift cards and presents for the teachers. I know many moms who gave spa days and gift cards for salons and department stores. I know of others who gave mugs or jewelry. I baked zucchini bread.

When I  brought the bread to school this morning and saw all of these beautiful boxes and bags, I wondered if I was being too cheap. Then I thought about what I would enjoy. Another mug or a batch of fresh, home baked bread? Oh sure, I wouldn’t mind a spa day, but to me, a homemade gift truly comes from the heart.

She probably loved it. I doubt that she has much time to bake herself… Each year at Christmas, one of my friends always bakes my gift and I love it to see what she comes up with each year. She can pretty much bake me right under the table!!

    I’ll bet she loved it!

I always forced paperwhite bulbs at Christmas for teacher gifts. They’re very inexpensive — but you should have heard the gasps of pleasure!
