The traditional family hasn’t gone along the wayside for us

Sometimes, I find a blog post that strikes a chord with me. Recently, Steve over at Inside Fatherhood had some very strong things to say about the traditional family. My brother-in-law and his wife have decided that if one of them should choose to be a stay at home parent, my BIL will probably stay at home. I admire that determination and think he would be an excellent stay at home dad.

Sometimes I get upset at the way the traditional family is portrayed in the media. Let me just say that a nuclear family might not be the norm any more, but it is what we still strive for. I will disagree with the statistics, though. I don’t want 3.6 kids. I want whole kids. Unless you count in utero as the 0.6 . I could go for that. Oh, wait, I am doing that. Oh yeah….

Kellys, thanks for the mention :)

I am fed up with the attack and portrayal of traditional roles. It needs to stop.

I am all for the traditional family. It has worked for years. Now our society seems to be moving away from a traditional family and values and the kids are being affected. My goodness, I have seen enough of it in the school system. You can’t tell me kids lives aren’t changed by it. They certainly are.
