Three SUPER cheap summer toys for kids

With summer coming you’ll need to plan activities. Here are three super inexpensive ideas that your kids will love AND that will actually keep them busy.

cheap summer fun for little kids

Felt city board:

Grab some felt. You’ll need one large piece, and a bunch of small pieces (all sizes and colors). The big felt you may need to get at an actual craft store, but small felt pieces are available all the time (for almost free) at garage sales and thrift stores.

  1. Cover a large piece of cardboard with the large piece of felt and nail it to the wall.
  2. You and your kid cut shapes out of all the other felt. Houses, trees, people, and so on. You can use glue to layer felt as well.
  3. The small pieces of felt easily stick to the large piece of cardboard/felt. Your child can mix, match, and rearrange all the little pieces for lots of cheap fun.

DIY: Recycled Catalog Dollhouse:

See instructions at the website for this awesome project. I actually made something like this as a kid, and it seriously kept me busy for months! Alternatively, you can make homemade restaurant menus (which is what my sis and did for an entire summer once). We cut out pics from magazines, glued them in an old notebook, and then made the food with play dough.

Sponge and box art:

Snag an old box – big enough for a clubhouse is fun. Get some sponges too. Cut shapes out of sponges and use them dipped in paint to decorate the entire box. Of course, you can make inexpensive art on paper with sponges, but I like the whole design a clubhouse idea.

Hi Jennifer. YOu should also check out this site http://www.thebrandsclub.com
I was looking for toys and found them, they ahve all the main and some smaller kids and babies online stores, but the reason I’m recommending them is that they give cashback on purchases from all the stores. I can’t remember exactly, but I think Disney was 2% , Please Mum was 5% and so on. So I signed up for emails at all the stores to keep up with the sales and then when I see something good, I log into my brands club account and shop from there. So I get both savings.
