Thrifty or Lazy Parenting

So I can get an entire hour of work done with my kids if I give Turkey Butt the computer to play with and let Little Man watch the Wiggles. My BIL would croak!  Am I a bad parent or a smart parent getting things done?

Bad parenting or smart use of time?  Let us know what you think.

BAD PARENT! Lol just kidding, I have to do the same thing with my 2-year old. I hate how parents are made to feel bad for decisions they make. If you don’t breastfeed, let your kid watch a little TV and eat a little ice cream, you’re made to feel like you’re child’s going to end up fat and stupid.

We all need time to get things done. There is a big difference between a parent that does this for an hour a day to get dinner made and a parent that does this all day long. TV shows have come a long way too. I’m amazed at the things my kids have picked up for their shows. When they’re getting buckled into their carseats, you’ll hear them singing to one another, “Don’t stop. Don’t give up. Keep trying.” I think that’s from the silly Noggin show where the guys where the crazy hats, Yo Gabba Gabba or one of those shows. Then you’ll hear them sing the Wubbzy song, “Don’t lie. Don’t lie. Don’t you blame it on the other guy.” I also like the PBS show Super Readers. Great for phonics and learning to read. Computer time and tv time is fine in moderation, in my opinion. haha

I don’t see it as bad parenting, more like smart parenting. I mean you need to multi-task anyways. So kids are doing something temporarily, not all day right? You get your cooking/cleaning/laundry/reading done and they have a bit of fun. :) It all evens out.

Please check back Friday for more information about multi-tasking as a parenting skill.
