Thursday Cleaning Challenge – Bleach that sink!

October 23, 2008 by kellys

I love a bleached sink.  I love the idea of a clean sink.  I admit I have a sink fettish!  My entire house can be a mess (and usually is) but my kitchen sink has to be clean.  This Thursday Cleaning challenge is uber easy.  Just fill your kitchen sink with hot water and a cup of bleach and walk away.  Don’t even think about it for 10 minutes.  Then just drain and rinse.  Uber Easy.

I, too, am a fan of a clean sink. There’s something great about how it means there’s nothing I HAVE to wash. :)

One thing though–cleaning your sink with bleach? It’s kinda bad. Like, really bad. Bad for your body and bad for the environment. I recommend using a cup of baking soda and hot water instead. Clean without the harmful fumes. Those suckers have even been shown to cause cancer, depending on the reaction once they have vaporized.

Funny that you mention the bleach in the sink thing. I’ll always remember going to my grandmother’s house when I was growing up and she almost ALWAYS had her bathroom sink filled with bleach water. It was kind of weird. You really couldn’t wash your hands because of it, you had to go to the kitchen. Over the years, she finally stopped doing it, not sure why.
But, my grandfather was a plumber, so apparently it wasn’t a big deal on the pipes or buddy – he would have let her know!
Kind of strange to think of the smell of bleach being a good childhood memory!
