Today’s Thursday Cleaning challenge is only because I went to check my washing machine when it was rocking during the rinse cycle. I went in to check it and rearrange the load. When I did, …
I found black specks all over the top of my clothes. Then I looked at the top of my washing machine ring. What I saw was a small ring of dirt and black junk. So I cleaned out the black junk. All I can say is Yuck!!! But now I can honestly say that my washing machine is officially clean. I also cleaned out the fabric softener dispenser with a rag. Now I know my washing machine is clean and ready to go.

What did you use to clean the rim? Anything special? Thanks for the tip- I never thought about cleaning the rim of my washer before.
please don’t make me…it is too gross!! HA!
I just used a clorox wipe but a vinegar moistened paper towel would do just as well.
I inadvertently recently discovered that same hidden… blech! I swear I won’t let it build up again like that.. but I will probably forget until I discover it again.
I noticed mine about 6 months ago. It was horrible!!! My washing machine’s agitator pops off and we cleaned it too. It was pretty gross as well.
I think most people would be appalled by what is in their washing that they cannot see. I recommend running the occasional empty load with hot water and Casecade Complete, or some other enzyme-based dishwashing detergent. The enzymes will help to break down any nasties and flush them away.
