@Derek- Actually I pushed the sides in, they burst apart. My husband, who is quite handy, took a look at it and said there's no reviving it.

I'm sorry to say it's time for a new one.

Poor toaster oven. We had a sad looking one that we retired a few years ago. I now have a convection oven. My hubby got it for a mere $25 b/c it was the display model! Yay!

It's not dead yet! The cover fell off, sure and it looks like it's been through a fire, but it could clean up and be working like it was 10 years younger in no time. With all the advances we've made in toaster technology, you'd think we could do SOMETHING.

Oh my gosh, is that really a picture of it? That looks crazy old. Still, it's cool you used it to death. Stuff just doesn't seem to last that long anymore. It's sad to lose something you've used forever, but now at least, you can buy one that's likely more energy efficient.

I've had my microwave almost as long. It's not on it's last legs, but it is ugly and hard to hide. I've decided though, that it is time to upgrade for energy conservation sake. 20 years ago they were a lot less efficient and so I will get a new microwave. I'm a big believer in making things last and I don't replace things easily if they still work - which is why I also hold onto cars for a long time. Good luck with your new one. Don't forget to recycle the old parts if you can.

I always thought I wouldn't be able to live without a toaster oven. Wouldn't you know it but I haven't had one in about 4 years mostly b/c we move around so much and messing with each country's voltage is a real pain.

RIP toaster oven!!
