Personally I think vinegar and bleach both smell clean. Vinegar seems to take less time than bleach for the smell to go away plus it's non toxic. I like to use bleach when I really want to be sure I have killed the germs especially when my family start getting sick. Vinegar is really good for keeping allergens down for some reason.

Some great tips. I am going to try the baking soda down the drain. I live in an older home. And for some reason, the drains are always slow.

The smell of vinegar goes away in a couple of hours so maybe spray down your cabinets right before you go to bed. That way, you won't smell it all day. Another trick is to get a fragrance type bleach such as "Spring Rain" and bleach yoru sink at the same time. That way, the bleach will slightly overpower the vinegar and you will have a beautiful sink as well. The fragrance in the bleach is much better to smell than the vinegar.

Hmmm, now that I think of it, I think lemon oil is used for cleaning wood. Maybe you could try lemon juice. Let us know how it works.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

Lana B: My husband complains about the smell of vinegar. He can't stand it either. He also complains about the smell of bleach. He says the bleach gives him a headache. So, I use vinegar and when he complains I ask him if he'd rather me use bleach. lol
I try to do my cleaning when he's not around though. Could you add some lemon oil or something like that to it instead? Lemon cuts out smells pretty well.

Here is my dilema...can you offer any help...
I keep a spray bottle of the 1:1 vinegar/water solution w/ about a 1/8 Cup of orange scented rubbing alcohol on my countertop at all times and use that as my only kitchen cleaner (other than when I need to use baking soda). Problem is, DH absolutely HATES the smell of vinegar! That is the biggest reason for adding the orange alcohol...to cut the smell. Not working. :( What else can I do? Any help is greatly appreciated!!
