This list is right on. Oh man is it a bad idea to shop while you're down. Not only will you act impulsively, but you'll feel even worse once you realize what you've done!

Wow! What a great conversation. #5 was in reference to buying clothes and then they not fit next year. That happens more times than I can recount for me and my sister. That's all.

I agree Meg. Without #5, I couldn't afford to clothe my family. I love the 50-75% off, plus an additional 40% off at Belk. I can get J Khaki stuff really cheap for my little boy. Last year, in the fall I paid $2-3 for sandals for my kids. I got them several pairs that they'll be able to wear this year.

I'm guessing Kelly was referring to people that don't shop smartly, don't make good choices as far as sizes and things they know they'll use. I have on occasion bought some things that I couldn't use, but I have gotten them so cheap that I was able to resell them and get my money back. You just have to smart about those end of the season purchases.

I agree with everything except perhaps #5. End of the season can work well a lot of times. A lot of items really aren't season specific. Plus, some places don't even have much in the way of seasons climate-wise.

As a Floridian, end of summer is a great time for me to stock up on lots of warm-weather clothes since I'll be able to wear them almost year round with the exception of the occasionally cold spell. And in fact, I don't have a problem buying cold-weather stuff in late winter instead of early fall because it doesn't usually get cold until later in the season. Of course, I wouldn't want to get a thick coat in April.

Also, I find that buying stuff later in the season helps me avoid trends that don't have any staying power. Sure, the clearance racks are full of bad fads, but at least I've had time to see them in action for a while and form a fairly solid opinion of them -- and have fun laughing at some of the other styles that fortunately didn't make it.

You broke up with a tall man and you married a tall man. I was inferring that you must like tall men. Then, I was cracking on both of us for being so short. Anyone must be tall compared to us.
