Cars cost families a lot. At first glance it may not seem like much of your budget goes to your car, but the Dept. of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that car ownership costs are the second largest household expense in the U.S and can take up about 17% of the family budget (that’s for one car).

Vehicle Maintenance Down Due to Economy

According to a survey recently done by Frost & Sullivan, the Growth Partnership Company, U.S. Vehicle Owners’ Attitudes and Behaviors toward Vehicle Maintenance folks are doing basic vehicle maintenance much less than they should due to a poor economy.

The survey research focuses on U.S. vehicle owners’ and how often and well they perform regular vehicle maintenance such as engine oil changes, air filter changes, tire maintenance, and more. The survey also looked at consumer attitudes toward vehicle maintenance.
