Strawberry Nestle Quick Recall

Turkey Butt loves Strawberry Milk. When she was little, she refused anything but breast milk. I couldn’t get her to drink regular milk. We tried everything. Finally we got her to drink my favorite milk when I was a kid – Strawberry Milk.

Recently I found that there is a recall for the 21.8 oz containers of Nestle Quick Strawberry Powder for small fragments of aluminum. The 2 product codes affected are “82255880″ and “82265880″. Look on the bottom of the plastic containers to see if yours need to be thrown out.

Jardine has recalled their cribs that were sold at Babies R Us. The wooden slats and spindles can break and then trap little ones. Some babies have even been hurt. Evenflo recalls the Discovery infant car seat

Evenflo has recalled the Discovery infant car seat for the propensity of disconnecting from the base during a high impact car crash. If you have one, please contact Evenflo for a “supplemental dual-hook fastener” for your seat. Please take care to get a new hook if you have one of these car seats. With so many recalls these days, you really need to register your products with the company so that you will be notified when/if your children’s items have an issue.

Fatal Toy Recall: Aqua Dots

I regret to inform you that last night, stores began pulling Aqua Dots from shelves after it was discovered that it contains a chemical that converts into the date rape drug if swallowed.

CPSC has received two reports over the past several days of children swallowing Aqua Dots. A 20-month-old child swallowed several dozen beads. He became dizzy and vomited several times before slipping into a comatose state for a period of time, was hospitalized, and has since fully recovered. A second child also vomited and slipped into a comatose state and was hospitalized for five days.

Aqua Dots are a Chinese made art toy that allows you to arrange color beads and fuse them together with water.

Graco Carseat recall

Graco just released a recall for their Comfort Sport Car seat when in the rear facing position. The lower anchoring strap was misrouted during assembly and can affect the performance of the car seat during a crash. Here are the images to tell if your car seat is affected by the recall. Take the time to look and see if your car seat is a part of the recall and keep your precious cargo safe.

Bumbo recall

I have a soap box to climb for just a second, so please indulge me. I have to say that there are justified recalls for things like lead and choking and then there is the bumbo recall. The recall states that there have been 28 reports of babies falling out of the seat from high places. Some due to the children being left unattended. Am I missing something dangerous here?

Come on folks! Why would you leave your child unattended in a seat anywhere but on the floor? And that should only be if the child is the only one there with no pets. I am a mom of 2 and I will only leave my baby, who is not mobile yet, alone if he is attached to a bouncy or swing and only if it is for a minute (sometimes you just want to go to the bathroom in peace.) The idea of leaving a baby alone in a seat that is not attached to either the child OR the surface to which it sits is something I can’t wrap my brain around. That’s like leaving a baby alone in a bouncy on the bar no matter how secure the baby is. Bouncy’s vibrate off counters and readjust. Then where is your baby? On the floor with a skull fracture. Oh wait, that is what they are saying about the bumbo! So why don’t you just use good common sense and leave the bumbo on the floor where you are told to put it by the directions anyway!

The directions state to “Never use on a raised surface”. I admit I have used it on the counter but I would have never dreamed of walking away. I just wanted you to know that the recall is not a real recall. The product is not defective and you do not have to send it back. They just want you to contact them for a sticker that tells you to be safe with the product by not leaving yoru child alone or putting it on high surfaces. This, to me, is just common sense.

I am off to buy a tray for my bumbo. HAHA

Once again, I am sorry to tell you that there was another toy recall announcement. This time it includes Baby Einstein Color Blocks and activity center, KB toy wooden blocks, and Target boy rattles. Take a look at your toy box again and start chunking those lead toys! It’s so sad that we have to be so vigilant with TOYS!

Hershey’s Chocolate Recall

Hershey’s has recalled chocolate for salmonella that was produced at their Smith Falls, Ontario factory from October 15th to November 10th. Chocolate products include

Hershey brand chocolate bars,
chocolate chips,
Oh Henry! bars,
Reese’s peanut butter cups and
Cherry Blossom sweets
White Chocolate

The white chocolate was just added this week. Good thing I don’t particularly care for chocolate.

Crib recalls

There have been three new crib recalls lately. One was the kissing cousin to Turkey Butt’s crib. I got a little nervous at first until I realized that we had the Aspen 3-in-1 Crib with drawer and not the one they recalled. So here are the three cribs they recalled for different reasons. If you have one of these cribs, contact the manufacturer immediately for further instructions. Your kids are worth it and you spent hard earned money on the cribs. They should replace them for you.

A child safety message from Toys-R-Us due to all the recalls

I received an email from Toys-R-Us that wanted to reassure me about the toys at Toys-R-Us and the safety recalls that have occured. I thought you would like to read it as I thought it sounded very sincere.
