Homebuyer tax credit extended & expanded

I’m sure you’ve heard of the $8,000 First-Time Homebuyer Credit – it’s been one of the most buzz-worthy credits of recent years. As of September the tax had benefited more than 1.4 million taxpayers. However, the credit was all set to expire on November 30 which means if you hadn’t found your dream pad, too bad. Luckily due to the huge success of this credit new legislation, the Worker, Homeownership and Business Assistance Act of 2009, was signed into law on November 6, 2009. Are You A Fat Tax Supporter?

Lately I’ve been hearing more and more about the fat tax. A soda tax. An unhealthy food tax. Etc. There have been some concrete suggestions for some sort of unhealthy food tax, but nothing in the U.S. is 100% yet. What I’m wondering is are you on board or not?

Paying Yard Sale Taxes

Yesterday I posted, Hold A Better Yard Sale. One thing you may be wondering is if you need to claim the money you make at your sale as income, on this year’s taxes.
Being a freelancer, I can tell you that no, most likely you won’t need to claim any of the money you make from your yard sale. The reason is because income is considered on-going (in a way); at least when it comes to sales of smaller goods and reasonable services.
