As you know, this is the time of year when the toys get really cheap. This is the time when I begin to pre-buy for future birthdays and Christmas presents.
We stopped at Target tonight to see if their clearanced clothes were an additional 30% off. (FYI – they weren’t at my Target.) We also went to check out the clearanced toys. My kids had some gift cards and Christmas money left over anyway. There were many toys that were 30-75% off. Here’s what we got:
vtech Write & Learn Letter Pad $14.99 $3.74
Little Einstein’s Tub Toss Mission $4.99 $2.48

The new CPSIA act

AS you all know, I love my resales shops. Mom of 14 asked me if I thought the new CPSIA Act that was signed into law last year by President Bush that would require any toy sold to be tested for lead, among other things, would affect my resale shop. Funny she should ask that as I just recently got an announcement from my local shop dealing with just that very thing.
Dear Valued Customer,
As you may have heard in the news or through online blogs, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (H.R. 4040) was signed into …read more

Welcome back to Thursday Cleaning Challenge. Sorry we took a few weeks off. So today, I want to challenge you to get a hold of all that clutter in the toy box. Go through the toys and if you haven’t seen your kids playing with the toy for a month, then put it away. Then bring it out in a few months and you are a hero with a new toy. That way you don’t so many toys to deal with in the toy box.

We want to buy Alligator a digital camera for her birthday. She will be turning five and her younger brother will also be using the camera. We need something that is durable and will hold up well, yet take decent pictures. We’re willing to pay a little more to get one that will do what we need.
We’re looking at getting a VTech Kidizoom camera. It sells for $60 and it allows you to take photos and movies and then view them on the camera, or on your tv or pc. You can also hook it up to your tv to …read more
Toys without lead
With all the toy recalls out there that have been recalled for lead levels, my co-worker wanted to find a safe place to buy toys for her little boy. Now, please understand that I am not being stuck up. Nor am I trying to be anti-anyone, but I do believe that toys from China seem to have a higher lead level than anywhere else. And we all know that in America, you can’t hardly pee without an environmentalist telling you where you are allowed to.
So here are a list of places that have American made toys:

Take Advantage of Toy Sales
December 31, 2007 by Karen Weideman

Be on the look out for great toy sales in your area. Each year around January and February, retailers begin marking down their overstock from Christmas. Each time I go to Target and Wal-Mart I take a quick walk through the toy department to see if the clearancing has begun.
I try to take advantage of the 50-75% savings so that I can pick up gifts for my kids. No, I don’t spend much, but those little gifts are helpful later. Instead of getting my children an Easter basket each year, I usually give them a toy that I got on …read more
