OK, so I have to admit I was watching a short spot on The View this morning and I saw a great idea for staying modestly dressed.

My co-worker was diagnosed with Lung cancer on Dec 2nd. Before that, he was fine. He had a cough but was the life of the party and I loved working under him when he was in charge. Always fair and always honest. He was one of the few that came to see Turkey Butt when she was born and I don’t think I will ever forget that. He was funny and always the perfect Catholic. He stood up for his family and that included all of our co-workers.
We found out today that he passed away last night at our hospital. …read more

How Much is Gas Your Way?
December 3, 2008 by Karen Weideman

It was just two months ago that we were paying $4 per gallon for gas. And it hurt to fill up our tank. As food prices continued to soar, it seemed as though there was no end in sight.
Finally, we are seeing some relief. Gas is around $1.70-1.80/gallon, depending on which part of NC I’m in at the time.
I’m wondering . . . how much is gas your way? Isn’t it nice that it costs 50%+ less to fill up our tanks?

Our huge transition is almost complete. We are living in our new area in Eastern NC. We downsized, sold stuff, given away stuff, packed, and traveled back and forth between residences. We have begun our new jobs. Life is still crazy and I just have to say that I miss you all!!!!!
I am no longer the stay-at-home mom I used to be. My days used to be full of cleaning, laundry, paying bills, playing with my little one, and managing the household. Now I’m in a full-time ministry position where I’m helping troubled youth. Thankfully, our children get to hang …read more
School Supplies . . . There Really is a Difference

As I was sorting through things in my basement, I came across a school supply list from the year I taught full day preschool. On the list I asked the parents not to purchase Dollar Tree or Rose Art brand school supplies.
Some of the parents probably thought I was a snot, but honestly there really is a difference in the name brands. Trust me, after teaching for several years I had seen student after student become totally frustrated and upset because their school supplies didn’t work well. I’ve seen glue sticks come out of the tube in a clumpy mess, crayons …read more
Target’s On A Mission

Due to my kid’s recent birthday party, them receiving birthday money, and me getting necessities, I’ve made several trips to Target this week. During each visit, I received unusual treatment. The cashiers seemed tense, hurried, and on a motive to get me through the line as quickly as possible. The normal cheeriness wasn’t there and I felt like a number.
After talking with one of the cashiers, I learned that Target is tracking how quickly they ring up the merchandise. I called my local Target today to tell them that I noticed the change in the cashiers’ behavior. Of course, they …read more
