So then I found Miss Oops.  They have a great little lace cover up for the crack that is actually somewhat attractive.  It is a lacy little wrap that you slide over your pants and under whatever shirt you are wearing.  As much as I like the concept, the price was a gasper for me.  $38 is not worth it.  I can sew it cheaper!  However, their beige JAKs is on sale for those that don’t sew for only $19.

We found out today that he passed away last night at our hospital.  I am sure he died with dignity and the privacy he deserved.  He will be sorely missed around the hospital as he worked there for over 20 years and knew just about everyone.  And everyone knew him.  This is not a funeral I wanted to go to.  I was hoping God would heal him this side of Heaven but I know that he is worshipping there right now and is not sorry for being there.

This is one of those times where I need to remind myself that we should be feeling bad for ourselves because we were the ones left behind and he is in the better place and not missing the pain and suffering and life here on this side.

So, go have a blast, Downtown!  We will meet again and I will hopefully introduce you to Little Bit then.  Have a ball and eat good food enough for both of us.

Finally, we are seeing some relief.  Gas is around $1.70-1.80/gallon, depending on which part of NC I’m in at the time. 

I’m wondering . . . how much is gas your way?  Isn’t it nice that it costs 50%+ less to fill up our tanks?

I am no longer the stay-at-home mom I used to be.  My days used to be full of cleaning, laundry, paying bills, playing with my little one, and managing the household.  Now I’m in a full-time ministry position where I’m helping troubled youth.  Thankfully, our children get to hang out with us while we’re working. 

The first week of work has been very hard, with us putting in 16-17 hour days.  I’m told that things will get better and I know that they will.  Transitions just take time. 

By the way, I haven’t lived in Eastern NC in about 13 years.  I have forgotten what hurricane season is like.  Geesh!  I woke up several times last night to banging, loud rain, and winds.  We’re all safe though.

I hope that in the next few weeks my schedule will calm and that I’ll be “seeing” you more.

Some of the parents probably thought I was a snot, but honestly there really is a difference in the name brands.  Trust me, after teaching for several years I had seen student after student become totally frustrated and upset because their school supplies didn’t work well.  I’ve seen glue sticks come out of the tube in a clumpy mess, crayons that worked as well as candle wax, and rubbery pencils that you had to sharpen half way down to get them to work.  It is insanely annoying!!!!

The point of all this is to say that it is worth the effort to purchase the better brands of school supplies.  They last longer and your child won’t become as frustrated.  Thankfully, now is the time to stock up on quality supplies.  Today I got the 2-pack of Elmer’s glue sticks at Target for 20 cents.

After talking with one of the cashiers, I learned that Target is tracking how quickly they ring up the merchandise.  I called my local Target today to tell them that I noticed the change in the cashiers’ behavior.  Of course, they wanted to know which cashier. I explained that I had different cashiers each time, that I certainly didn’t see it as the cashier’s fault, but maybe something they need to reevaluate, seeing as though the cashiers seemed so mission minded. 

The person I spoke with apologized, but assured me that they wanted to get the customers through the line as quickly as possible.  So yes, they definitely confirmed what I had been told, but yet in a way to avoid coming out and saying there was a quota or time limit of some sort.

In the past, this has not been the norm for Target (at least not at my store).   Target was the one place where we could shop without it feeling like an overly populated warehouse.  I’m not sure if this is a new policy or just something they’ve started to enforce.
